The Essex Welfare Service (EWS) was established in March 2020 to ensure the most vulnerable in society were supported through the extended periods of self-isolation to stay healthy and well as a result of COVID-19.
EWS was originally designed for people without the support of family, friends or neighbours and thousands of volunteers were mobilised to support requests around shopping and prescriptions. Support is now also provided through more provision for caring responsibilities, mental wellbeing, debt, housing and employment queries, matters concerning children, young people and families and keeping physically active and emotionally well. The focus is very much on promoting the wellbeing of people, preventing needs from escalating and reducing demand on health and social care services.
As you are all aware the current COVID-19 poses one of the greatest challenges that society has faced in recent times, and we have all had to make changes to our daily lives to ensure that we work together to protect the most vulnerable members of society. At the Practice we have had to make a number of responsive changes following recent developments to ensure the maximum safety of our patients, and to protect our staff as much as possible to ensure that the NHS can keep working in an effective manner and can continue to provide the best level of care possible.
As such, during the current period of emergency measures many routine services will be subject to short notice change and many administrative tasks will be streamlined to ensure that we focus more of our time and resources on the delivery of care to those that need it the most.
Please bear with the staff at this time we are working hard to keep the practice open and some processes due to high demand may take a little longer.
